Ready, Set, Rumble!

A local multiplayer game for 2-4 players created for the 2nd year group project. The game offers exciting and fast gameplay, suitable for family and friends alike.

Project Background

This project took place in the second semester of second year, which required set groups to take on the task of developing a game together based on a specific theme. The groups were made up of designers, artists and programmers who had twelve weeks to collaborate and produce a local multiplayer game with additional light attributes of being fun and quirky.

Our group consisted of two designers, two artists and one programmer. As such, we knew from the get-go that this would be a difficult task for our programmer, considering he had no experience using the Unity engine or programming in C# - which the rest of the team did have experience in. From this point, we were able to quickly establish the type and style of the game in order to make the programmer's life a little easier, thus Ready, Set, Rumble was born.

Ready, Set, Rumble is a local multiplayer game in which two to four players must compete against one another in order to be the last player standing, and through winning a specified number of rounds, will thus win the game. Players compete by attempting to knock their opponent from the level through the use of various debilitating traps and a volatile slam ability. The game is a 2D pixel art game developed in the Unity engine, which takes inspiration from games like Super Smash Bros, in which the game map scrolls with the camera fixed in a central point, as players battle to stay within the bounds of the camera.
